The request

Magic Garden designed and produced the artistic programme of the Tour Montparnasse Paris Observatory with 2 highlights.

Objective:

To introduce the public to a place that is both so emblematic yet so little known in the city of Paris, the rooftop of the Tour Montparnasse, for all audiences, young and old, Parisians and tourists.

The idea

To reinvent the experience offered by the view from 210 metres above Paris, through artistic collaborations.

Knock-out moment 1: Paris 1000 Facettes, kick-off on 3 June 2021

(Re)discovering the incredible view from an unprecedented angle through the creation of 4 Diamantoscopes, prisms made of mirrors, thanks to an artistic collaboration with the multidisciplinary artist Le Diamantaire.

An installation enriched by the exhibition of part of the works of Le Diamantaire on the 56th floor for one month.

Knock-out moment 2: Colorama, kick-off on 22 September 2021

Paris’ iconic monuments are reinvented through a colourful and immersive prism, thanks to an artistic collaboration with Quai 36 and the studio Les Zinc.

The contemplation experience evolves depending on the light varying during the autumn days through an interplay between colours and material transparencies. A real treasure hunt will await all visitors.

Outcomes

All summer long, visitors made the monumental tower and view of Paris their own, in an entirely new way.

The photos taken and shared on the social media went viral.
